Saudis Sentence Gang Rape Victim To 200 Lashes

Ahhh, the wonders of sharia!

A court in Saudi Arabia has sentenced a 19 year old gang rape victim to 200 lashes and six months in jail.

This actually represents a retrial, believe or not. In the original trial, the perpetrators were all sentenced to jail terms, so the court recognized that a rape had occurred, which is rare in itself. But the woman was originally sentenced to undergo 90 lashes for "being in the car of an unrelated male at the time of the rape."

But then Saudi Arabia's Higher Judicial Council ordered a retrial, and the court in the eastern town of Al-Qatif upped the number of lashes to 200.

According to what a court source apparently told the English-language Arab News, the judges decided to increase the woman's sentence further for "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media."

In other words, 90 lashes for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and getting raped, and another 110 for not keeping her mouth shut.

Apparently the fact that the victim was a member of Saudi Arabia's minority Shiite community had something to do with it.

The retaliation wasn't limited just to the rape victim. Her lawyer, Abdul Rahman al-Lahem lost his license to practice law because he challenged the sentence given to his client, and likewise failed to keep his mouth shut about the case to the international media.

This is the sort of wahabist, jihad friendly culture that our `eternal friends' the Saudis continue to import to the West, without the current occupant of the White House doing a thing about it.

Here's a clue...one of the keys to winning the War on Jihad and defeating this ideology involves freeing and enfranchising its women.
