Obama's Popularity Falls Below Bush's In The Arab World

JournoLista Ben Smith over at the Politico writes an unintentionally hilarious article here. Apparently in the Arab world, President Barack Hussein Obama polls below George W. Bush at the end of Bush's second term. Particularly chuckle worthy is the opening para:

President Obama, whose standing abroad helped earn him a Nobel Peace Prize in his first year in office, has declined in popularity in the Arab world since his Cairo speech in the summer of 2009.

Get that? President Obama earned his Nobel prize!

This is a Zogby poll, so it's heavily weighted towards an agenda ( I doubt Arabs in places like Morocco care all that much about the 'Palestinians') but the mechanics seem relatively sound here:

After improving with the election of Barack Obama in 2008, U.S. favorable ratings across the Arab world have plummeted. In most countries they are lower than at the end of the Bush Administration, and lower than Iran's favorable ratings (except in Saudi Arabia).

My goodness, all that bowing, scraping and butt kissery didn't matter in the end?

I'll give Ben and his fellow Obama fans a clue. What the Arabs see is a weak, compromised, bumbling man who is doing nothing to stop the Iranians from getting nuclear weapons, sells out his allies, and signed on to a neo-colonial adventure in Libya with Britain and France.

And to add insult to injury, he couldn't even deliver the Jews of Israel.

They have little use fo rhmi, and to be honest, the circle of the people that do is tightening significantly.

One interesting result of the poll I noticed was the relatively high approval ratings given to Turkey. It could be that a significant number of Arabs are pining for their old Ottoman masters, hoping the Turks will save them from the Persians.

please donate...it helps me write more gooder!
